Support » Plugin: Cloudinary – Image and Video Optimization, Manipulation, and Delivery » Images not added to the cloud automatically

  • I was really excited when I came across this plugin but my excitement disappeared very quickly because:

    • New images uploaded to WP Media Library are not automatically added to Cloudinary as well.
    • There is no way to add existing images to Cloudinary.

Ultimately this plugin’s integration with WordPress is very poor since the plugin doesn’t make use of the core WordPress Media Library and instead it’s pushing its own custom Media Library. The problem with this approach is that if Cloudinary goes out of business you could potentially loose all your site files.
I like to have copies of my files on my server in case a third party service like Cloudinary goes under my website doesn’t get affected.

What this plugin should do is that when an image is uploaded to WordPress Media Library that image should be automatically uploaded to Cloudinary and when an image is deleted from WP Media Library that image should also be removed from Cloudinary.
