images from image widgets not in SEO

  • Hi,
I am trying to make my site SEO-friendly with WordPress SEO Yoast. Almost all the images I have on my site, I have displayed in image widgets. But it looks like WordPress SEO doesn’t look at those images. It only sees the images that are posted in a page itself. Also when I generate a XML sitemap, only those images which are in a page itself, are shown, but not the images in the image widgets.
(I am still working on Wamp server now)

I have the same problem. I use a commercial theme where ALL the page content is in widgets. Not the most elegant but that’s the theme.
Yoast SEO does not catch any text or images from widgets which amounts to a false sitemap.
The burning question might be; do the search engine crawlers actually care. Even if the sitemap says 0 images, it would seem logical that the crawlers must still see multiple IMG tags when crawling the actual html page and therefore allocate the desired level of SEO.
