• Hi all, I hope someone will be able to help me with a pointer to what I’m doing wrong regarding images in RSS feeds when using WP RSS Multi Importer.

I currently have a page (set up as a test) with a feed from the Japanese site Ameba Blog. The feed has images, which I wish to use. However, they come up as blank. See below (I have included the raw RSS link and also the dumpthis=”1″ parameter on that page.

As I hope you can see, the images are blank. If you click on the image link as part of the rendered RSS feed, a “Referral Denied You don’t have permission to access” error comes up.

Is this Ameba being (what I think is a bit silly) and not allowing referrals for the images embedded in their RSS feeds? Should I contact them to adjust their feeds permissions or is there is “workaround” that can be done in the plugin? Perhaps the images could be fetched and cached locally and then used? I’ve had a search around online and a few people are vexed by it but no solutions. Perhaps I should contact Ameba…

    regards,
    Steven

    Thanks for the reply Sam.

The problem is that for RSS feeds that for some reason disallow referrals, is there a way to modify the plugin to get round it? If not. Should I contact the host of the RSS feed and ask them to adjust the policy to the images hosted by them linked in their own RSS feeds. If you click on the link I provided I hope the missing images problem is clear enough.

yes, if the rss feed has an image (now note, the image may be fine on the site that provides the RSS feed, but when you put this on another server it won’t show because the source has either blocked the images or it doesn’t use a fully qualified url to the image.
