Hi, I remember a few years ago this Slider was capable of bringing images from Custom Fields. Why was the function removed??????

Will it ever be brought back? This was the only reason I wanted to use this plugin today but uninstalled after I wasn’t able to find the function for custom fields anywhere.

Will you ever bring back this function? And if yes, when?

    Thanks

Ahhh now I see, you removed the custom fields function since 2.0 version. A poor decision in my opinion. You are supposed to make a plugin more functional not less functional by cutting off its features.

Let me know if you ever bring back the Custom Fields. Also if you do, please don’t have a fixed Custom Field keyword named “easing”. Instead, let the users choose their own keyword. Why? Simple! I already have THOUSANDS of custom fields with the keyword “sliderthumbnail”.

Hi @justatest47, unfortunately this feature was removed roughly 2 years ago.

Prior research lead us to the conclusion that the functionality was not used often, and complicated the interface for many of our users who found it difficult to comprehend.

Furthermore, due to the required constraints of moving development forward, we had to exclude without it despite our best efforts to meet our high UI & UX standards.

I’m very sorry about this and any inconvenience caused. If you’re happy using the older version of the plugin, by all means continue to do so. We may look into re-adding this feature again in the future, but so much has changed with the WordPress Media management, it’s become complicated.

Our goal is to keep the plugin very niche – providing the best experience with core functionality included. In such a populated slideshow niche, we aim to be one of the simpler, highly focused solutions, rather than a feature-full, harder to use solution.

Once again, I’m extremely sorry for any inconvenience caused. We do try our best.

Well actually I’m not using Easing Slider. I’m using Featured Content Gallery but I thought of changing it with a newer plugin since this is quite old.
And I remembered that 2 years ago I saw this plugin Easing Slider white offered the same Custom Fields function so today I gave it a try and was stunned to see the function was removed.

I do agree with you on having your plugin “very niche” but I don’t see how this function would be a “drawback” or something…… :O

After all it’s just a choice and people may choose to use this function or not. Ever heard of that? “choice?” 🙂 You could make it just a non-default setting…

Well I choose to use custom fields for triggering images. Why? Because I already have THOUSANDS of custom fields called “sliderthumbnail”. I’m sure there are others just like me.

I’ve tried the older version of the EasingSlider, indeed the custom fields work like a charm BUT there’s no text anywhere?!? Title + some excerpt from the article?

Ohh well maybe you will bring back the custom fields function someday…

No need to be rude 🙂 We’re just trying to do our best. Sometimes for the sake of clarity, simplicity, and providing a high quality streamlined product we choose to omit features.

    Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

    Offtopic
I wasn’t rude… I just re-read my message and I didn’t said anything rude. However if you misinterpreted anything as being rude or offensive to you, that was not my intent.

Anyway now let’s get back ontopic.
Well are there any plants to reintroduce custom fields in your future updates?

If not, could you teach me how to add text into the older version of EasingSlider that already supports custom fields? The older version is a 10 star plugin, looks better than the newer version, easier to understand, etc but unfortunately misses this important factor, post Title + content excerpt.

So could you help me please? One way or another?

    Thanks
