Images display in posts only when viewed from the dashboard.

When I insert images into my posts, they appear while I’m working in the dashboard. However, once I publish a post and view it outside the dashboard or even view it in preview mode from inside the dashboard, the images don’t appear. Any suggestions as to what might be going wrong?
