    SHORTPIXEL

I have configured the settings for the ShortPixel Adaptive Images plugin using the visual illustrations in “3. Settings” on your “Step-by-step guide to install and use ShortPixel Adaptive Images (SPAI).”

After clearing all caches (including Cloudflare), everything works fine until I activate the New AI engine. Then all of the images disappeared. I then deactivated New AI and the images returned.

    What should I do?

PS: The link to the page I need help with above (https://www.theendlesssixties.com) currently has the New AI engine activated.

    Hi Neal,

Please try to disable the “Fade-in effect” option in Settings > ShortPixel AI > Behaviour.

I disabled the “Fade-in effect” but the images are still missing.

    Hi Neal,

Could you please clear your cache? Now I can see all the images correctly on https://www.theendlesssixties.com/ 🙂

    1. Hah! As I assumed that you might not be working on the weekend, I deactivated the New AI Engine. I assume that is why you are seeing the images now. When I reactivate it, the pictures disapper.

    2. The problem appears to be a conflict with the Autoptimize plugin, which I have to speed up my site. When I deactivate Autoptimize and then activate the New AI Engine, the images remain visible!

    3. The weird part is that all my “scores” on GTMetrix including LCP are lower with the New AI Engine on and Autoptimize off!

I will fiddle around with Autoptimize and see what the issue is and get back to you …

    Best,

    N

For Autoptimize: try to identify what is breaking the new AI engine by just disabling CSS or JS or HTML or image lazyload. Based on that we can see what the next steps need to be 🙂

    Good day!

The issue in Autoptimize appears to be the Eliminate render-blocking CSS option in CSS OPTIONS. I deactivated that option and the images remain visible on my blog!

Now I have to do some tweaking and see what Autoptimize/ShortPixel AI combination makes my site operate with optimum speed …

Thank you and Sixaxis for your assistance!

OK, it _could_ be that the critical CSS/ above the fold CSS just needs updating, but it is also possible that the tool that generates those (are you on criticalcss.com ?) does not “see” the images in which case you might need to add some CSS in the “add CSS to all rules” button.

first thing to try though; Settings -> Autoptimize -> Critical CSS -> Advanced Settings -> tick the “Unload critical CSS after page load” option

    hope this helps,

I do not have the Settings -> Autoptimize -> Critical CSS -> Advanced Settings -> tick the “Unload critical CSS after page load” option.

This may be because I do not have a valid criticalcss.com API key and, alas, nor do I intend to (I have already passed my annual “budget” for my websites).

Everything seems to be functioning just fine on with Autoptimize and ShortPixel AI on The Endless Sixties blog—now to make changes in my other blogs.

    Thanks again!

    you’re welcome N 🙂
