Support » Plugin: Featured Images in RSS & Mailchimp Email » Image won't show in iphone 5 email

  • Resolved quidprocrow

    I’m using mailchimp for my newsletter and I will be checking with them about this too.

    My feed is

    When I look at the email in my computer and upon previewing in mailchimp, everything looks fine. But viewing the email in iphone (presumably other smart phones) the image shows an icon with a border that indicates the full size of the image.

    Could the image be effecting the responsiveness of the email or does mailchimp (because it may not be responsive) effect the delivery of the image in smaller formats?

  • Hi Dave,

    The feed looks great, so the plugin is working as intended. The images are kinda large for Mailchimp use, try thumbnail size instead?

    Yes the template in Mailchimp should be reworked to handle the images better… I’d contact them for help on that.

    I had to rework a template to get the text to wrap around the image with a padding, here’s the body code I ended up using:

    <style type=”text/css”>.rss-content img {
    padding: 0px 10px 0px 0px; float: left;
    <span style=”font-size:12px”>*|RSSITEMS:|*</span>
    <h2 class=”mc-toc-title”>*|RSSITEM:TITLE|*</h2>
    Posted on *|RSSITEM:DATE|*

    <div class=”rss-content”>*|RSSITEM:CONTENT|*</div>

    Thanks for your quick reply. Using your css sample, I successfully resized the image for mobile in Mailchimp:

    <style type="text/css">.mcnTextContent img {width:100% !important; margin-top: 10px !important; margin-bottom: 10px !important;

    The image show perfectly in the preview mode for both the full size and mobile image, however, when I preview in iphone 5 the image doesn’t show, nor can it be clicked to show. I’ve never had a problem viewing in email, just my iphone.

    Hmm, that should work, or try the .rss-content img instead?

    I tried the .rss-content img originally but it did not work to resize the image in the Mailchimp mobile preview whereas .mcnTextContent img does work.

    I have another email coming out tonight that I’ll check.

    When I was using the feeburner url, I believe (can’t remember) the images were responsive, but, of course, the design options were nonexistent. That’s why I love your plugin.

    I note that others seem to be having responsiveness issues. I wonder if they’re also losing the image in iphone. Could it be an iphone problem?
