  • With the new WordPress 3.9, my ability to change the image URL is gone (or I simply cannot find it). Note, I am not talking about the optional URL that can be added to the image (when you click it), I mean the image itself. How can I change the image src link without changing the editor into source mode?

  • The “Source” field for images was removed in WordPress 3.9.

How can I change the image src link without changing the editor into source mode?

    I see two possible solutions:

    1. Use the “Replace” button below the image to select a different image from the media library or upload a new image

    2. Delete the image and re-insert

For reference, and because I think it’s really good to get to the heart of a problem, what is your use case—what is your workflow and why are you trying to change out the image URL? Do you do that often? Will re-inserting work as the new way to do that? I’m asking just because I think it’s a good idea to record the “whys” behind reports like this one.

    Thanks for your reply.
I’m using it for purchased themes, especially those that have their image set to static URLs (their demo site).

Not that it’s the biggest issue; I can still work with it when swapping between HTML view and Visual. I guess it’s just a matter of getting used to it.

I would also like to be able to edit an image URL. I don’t know how to write html, but can edit in text if you would be willing to advise me how. Before the wordpress 3.9 update, I would change the image URL so that instead of pointing to the image itself, it would either point to my post URL or to an external site (which is what I’m trying to do today, change the image URL so that if our Feedblitz readers click the image in their email, it will take them to an online coupon for our event). Since this feature is missing from 3.9, please could you tell me: do I change the A HREF URL or the SRC URL for the image……sorry for my ignorance. Also, will this feature be restored in updates to 3.9?

susanbear, one way would be to edit the HTML in the post directly using the Text tab in the editor: http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/#text-editor

To do it that way, find the “img” tag in the HTML and then change out the href=”URL” value with your own URL.

Another way to do it would be to delete the image and re-add it by clicking “Add Media” then “Insert from URL”
