# Image Upload Filepath

 * When I upload images using WordPress media, it automatically stores it in this
   folder **wp-content/uploads**, I want to seperate into categories of folders 
   of my images in the root of the domain, how do I do this?
 * Will all images display properly?

 * There is an option at:
 * Admin Dashboard>Settings>Media>”Organize my uploads into month and year based
   folders”>Check it to create month based folders.
 * Also, you can use an FTP tool like Filezilla or your host provided file manager
   to upload media files, then add them in using the ‘from url’ tab – just include
   the full path and file name properly – it can even be from another cloud server
   for example.

 * I don’t want the folder names to be month based, I want them as custom names 
   of my own choice,
 * If I upload the images via FTP, will it allow me to use it as featured image 
   on WordPress?

 * An option is the excellent [NextGen Gallery](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextgen-gallery/)
   plugin which has great integration with featured images. It is a top plugin.
