I was wondering if their was a image title plugin, a feature you can have when writing a post, and then you add the title their so when you hover of it with your cursor it says the title of the image?

When you use the built-in Image Uploader (on the Write Posts page for instance) one of the fields is “Title”. Whatever you type there becomes the image title.

Know, thats is not fully true.
That turns it in to the Alt tags.

Fair enough — and when you hover your mouse over the image, isn’t that the text you see?

Only when you use Internet Exploder. Firefox and Safari do not show “alt” hover tags as this is Microsoft crap.

I’m looking for something like this as well. No one I know uses IE and the other browsers do not show alt tags on mouse hover, only title tags. I would love to have the description show when someone hovers over the image rather than rely on captions, which just take up more space and add more clutter.

I’ve looked everywhere though and have found no means of doing this. If you’ve been able to find a plugin or some means of modifying the css or php to do this I’d love to know about it.

I posted a related solution (that is really really dirty right now, but works for me) at

It basically uses information from the media library to update your title and alt attributes, so you can change the stuff there.

I really really recommend you use this as a template for your own needs, I’m not sure how long this will last 😉
