 * Hi,
    could you please give me some advice regarding the media settings: Do you
   recommend changing these at all? I know WP is using responsive images and thus
   creating multiple sizes of images, based on the media settings. But what if I
   have all different sizes on my site, i.e. I have multiple full width full height
   images, but also 4:3, square, 3:2 in all different sizes. Some are displayed
   at 1300px on desktop, some at 800px on desktop. So should I change the default
   media settings and if yes, to what?

 * Hi,
 * Sorry for the delay.
 * You don’t need to worry about the image sizes generated by WordPress. When using
   images inside a post or page, you can choose the image size that you want to
   use. If you create your image to be in actual size, you should choose “Full”
   size when embedding an image into your post or page.

 * Hi,
    thanks for the reply. So is it not bad for performance if I don’t change
   the media settings and let WP create all those image sizes that are never needed
   on the site? Will that not slow down the site? For example the default 1024 x
   1024 would never be used if all my images are 4:3 or 3:2 ratio…

 * Yes, the unused generated images won’t slow down your website. They only take
   your server’s hard disk space.
 * By the way, for “medium” and “large” image sizes, WordPress will keep the original
   image size ratio.
 * For example, you uploaded 1200×900 image (4:3 ratio). WordPress will generate
   1024×768 (4:3 ratio) instead of 1024×1024.
