Hi Sara, you could do that by creating a child theme and making substantial modifications to some of the theme files. If you’re comfortable editing PHP files, you could always add a new widgetized area there.

Making a child theme means your changes won’t be overwritten when you update the theme. If you’re new to child themes, you can explore these guides:
