Support » Plugin: ShortPixel Image Optimizer » Image flow & deleting the plugin

I have read the documentation, but I am a bit confused.
The optimization happens on ShortPixel servers and the originals are kept (if wanted) in the backup folder in WP…
Where do the optimized images reside?
If they are being called from ShortPixel cdn it would seem they would live on SP servers??
Which brings me to, if plugin was deleted, where are the already optimized images? Are they stored in the usual WP media folders or??
Or are they lost once the plugin is deleted?

Thank you for your questions @dragonsjaw – allow me to answer them!
Please note that we have 2 image optimization plugins, one is ShortPixel Image Optimizer (SPIO), the other one is ShortPixel Adaptive Images (SPAI).

If you use SPIO then the original images will be replaced with their optimized version. You can deactivate the plugin at any moment, the images will remain optimized.

SPAI on the other hand optimizes the images on the fly and serves them from our CDN. Deactivating the plugin will result in your original images being shown to visitors.
You can learn more about SPAI here and you can learn more about the differences between the 2 plugins here.

    Best regards,
    Alex
