Image cropping is no longer working via the image editor

  • I recently switched by blog to a new server and I can no longer crop images I upload. When I click and drag within the image the new boundary box doesn’t appear.

The strange thing is that I CAN crop images that are already in WordPress that were upload when my blog was on the old server.

What could be causing this? What are the php libraries that enable image cropping so I can make sure I have them on my new server? Why would I be able to crop some images but not others? Does something happen when you upload an image that enables cropping later?

Any thoughts to help me solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

GD Library. It might be worth checking that you’re running the latest version.

I have the GD library installed. And actually I have a newer version than I did on the old server where the cropping worked.

Is there any other library or php.ini setting that might be turned off that you can think of?

    OK, I’ve pinpointed the problem.

I don’t know why, but apparently the plugin “W3 Total Cache” was causing a conflict. When I disabled it everything worked fine, and then when I re-enabled it, it didn’t work again.

Is anyone else experiencing this same thing using W3 Total Cache?

Can you submit a bug submission form from the support tab of the plugin? I cannot duplicate this.
