Image crop unable to import uploaded image

Uploading an image brings to crop screen. Crop area is black and like a single line, with no image visible. Images appear to be uploaded to the server but the plugin is then unable to pull in the resource for the crop screen (errors can be seen when using “Inspect Element”). End result is can’t upload an avatar for a user.
