image captions

I’m trying to add a single image into the body text of a page. I don’t know any html, codex, or any of that. I can position the image where I want it to be with text wrap if there is no caption, but when I add the caption it is full width and so it disrupts reading the page. How can I get the caption to line up under the image? This is the url: http://didfree.net/experimental/. It looks great in edit mode, but when viewed, the caption is now full width.

http://didfree.net/experimental/ is as 404 page not found

Um, my pages are “published”, but I haven’t gone “live”. I’m just building the website. What do I have to do to make the url’s work? Sorry I’m so new at this.

in your style.css file, this is the problem:
```
.wp-caption {
  width: auto!important;
}
```
get rid of that and you should be OK
```
.wp-caption {
    /* width: auto!important; */
}
```

OK, I modified that bit of code as above and saved it. I went back to my page, cut out the image and the caption, added the image with caption again, updated the file, and it’s still the same problem. I also added that image randomly to another page, and it does the same thing. What should I do now?

That is the proper fix.

Under Appearance Editor…..where it says it’s very dangerous to change this code. If that’s not right, I’ll change it back and go wherever it’s supposed to be.

You could try to override it using the plugin Simple Custom CSS. Try adding
```
.wp-caption {
    width: initial !important;
}
```

I uploaded Simple Custom CSS and added the code. It makes no difference. Any other thoughts?
