• I’ve created a post template in 2022 theme. In this template I’ve added an image block. I’ve assigned this template to the post. Where (and how) do I upload the image in the post?

  • Hi @psychicsandra

If you’ve used the Post Featured Image block in single post template then you can show the post feature image using that block in single posts. That means you’ve to set the feature image for the specific posts then it will display the post feature image in a specific single post.

    Thanks

No, it’s not featured image. It’s images, buttons and various other elements inside the post template.I’ll be changing the values of these images buttons and other elements for each post I create. Is it possible? How to do that?

    Hey @psychicsandra

As I can understand you’ve created one template and you’ve to add/modify elements to that template.

I’ve created one quick video here.

If it’s not the answer to your question. Can you please share a quick video? It will be helpful for me to understand properly if I’m thinking in the wrong direction.

    Thanks

Hello @multanisadik yes that’s correct so far. Next is to create a post and use this template. On this post edit how do we change the image and button? This image and button will be different on each post we create. Is it possible to do in this theme?

    okay now got your point.

Yes it’s possible to use different content for each posts but we will not use that type of content in template.

We will only use dynamic block in the template like post title, post content and post feature image. Then it will get the proper data for each posts and you just have to add the post data in related posts directly.

Here I’ve created the video for your ref. ( click here )

    Thanks

@multanisadik thanks for taking time to create video. I do understand what you are saying and it’s clear. It seems we can’t add dynamic image/button or any other block type in the template. This is disappointing because it will defeat the purpose of a template if elements can’t be dynamic.

So what I don’t understand is why to allow adding static block types (e.g. image, buttons etc) in a post template? It’s useless. The very definition of the word template is that it should allow dynamic blocks inside it.

    Hi @psychicsandra

I know It’s quite confusing for you but the template is a thing that we were using from code before full site editing. but now we can also adjust that from backend. we can use the templates for building layouts.

So, the thing is the buttons, images and that type of things will not be the same for all posts that’s why we must need to add the post related data in the individual posts.

    I hope it make sense.

    Thanks

WordPress doesn’t support that kind of thing which you want to achieve. Dynamic content inside the posts is not possible.
