Oops, I must have posted this topic when I meant to search instead, but while I’m here…
I ran a search and haven’t yet come across my problem, which is that the file gets upload in its entirety, but for some reason the permissions on the file aren’t readable when it uploads. I get a 403 when trying to view the image, but it’s there, in the right location, correct file size, etc. Obviously it’s viewable when I go in there manually and set the permissions myself, but I don’t understand why this is occuring. The permissions on the folder it’s in are correct.

    Images don’t need permissions ……
Or is it another file type you mean ?

Well apparently the script was uploading images at unreadable permissions(they were giving me a 403 when I tried to view them). I emailed my webhost and they piddled around WordPress and fixed it for me. Unfortunately they didn’t tell me what they did, but at this point, it doesn’t really matter. 😉

i have feelings the problem with ur host not with WP… coz its the first time i heard of it… 🙂

I’m having the same problem with WordPress on my site… I have double and triple checked the path and addresses for the upload folder and have set the folder permissions to 777. The file uploaded perfectly, but I get a 403 Forbidden error when I try to view it. After changing the permissions on the image itself, I can view it so I know that it uploaded ok. I just wondered anyone out there experienced this and knew a fix for it. Thanks!
