[Resolved] I'm the Admin, but I can't Admin

    @mcgeorge40

    Tried to search for help on this, but I am not even sure how to articulate my problem into a search term…

    I use Dreamhost and the one-click installation for WP.

    Dreamhost sends me my username (admin) and my password.

    I am now logged in, but cannot upload themes or do anything. Under “Users,” I double checked to make sure I was an administrator. I am.

    Just to be safe, I also created a new admin account and then logged in under that one.

    Both admin accounts don’t seem to have admin privileges, and I have the message: “WordPress 3.1.3 is available! Please notify the site admin.”

    Found my own answer, so I thought I would share.

    When using the WordPress installation through Dreamhost, do not do the “simple one-click install”.

    Do the “custom one-click intall.”

    There is absolutely no difference in setting it up, but the “simple” install doesn’t allow you to add or delete themes or plug-ins.

    So why have a crappy WP install Dreamhost? Why? Just to irritate me for the day?
