.. but isn’t it interesting that I’ve personally downloaded and installed this on just over forty sites, yet the ‘active installations’ count is just ‘8,000+’.

Am I really responsible for 0.5% of all installations of this?

I totally hear you, but honestly I think it has more to do with the fact that the WP Team is pushing their own plugins (Classic Editor and Gutenberg Ramp) to disable Gutenberg, even though those plugins are less flexible with fewer features, etc.

In any case, thank YOU for using Disable Gutenberg. Hopefully the word will spread that it’s a better, more robust and flexible plugin than any of the alternatives (last time I checked anyway! LOL).

    Thank YOU!

What I particularly like about it is that it’s possible to hide the menu items so you can install this on clients’ sites with less risk that they will turn it off.

(And then start with the support calls because everything doesn’t work and it’s so slow and..)

That definitely is a useful feature 🙂

Will be adding more functionality based on user feedback, ideas, etc.

Feel free to suggest any features that may benefit in general!

FYI, I posted on a thread two days ago (“My editor is broken”) and recommended this plugin, with a link. My post was removed the next day. I’m not saying something “fishy” is going on–it’s possible I have violated some forum rule or TOS–but I don’t think so… 🙁

Interesting, thank you for reporting. If you try to do another post, please take a few screenshots (showing context), and maybe add to the post that your previous post was deleted, maybe ask “why”, etc. Hopefully it was a fluke, but as you suggest, there are lots of forum rules that must be followed.

Just FYI, I keep track of all of my own support requests and reviews with screenshots. That way, I have recourse should anything unexpected happen. Screenshots and saving pages is becoming increasingly important these days.

@specialk, I looked again and my initial post has reappeared:

    removed post, restored

But the post asking why it was initially removed is gone:

    why was it removed, gone

So, no explanations and no records of the removed/restored posts. Pretty underhanded, IMHO.

    edit: full thread here.

Yeah that is weird.. no idea why they removed your post, would love to know if you get any explanation. My best recommendation is to keep a close eye on it. And my best guess as to “why” is that they did not like you mentioning an alternative to the Classic Editor, as I can fathom no other reason (you were simply participating in an open discussion).

Also just so you are covered, I would read again the official WP forum rules. That way you know exactly what’s expected, etc.

Also great job keeping screenshots and links of everything. It is a good practice to keep track of everything important that you are doing online.

My thought as well. There have been enough missteps in the Gute rollout that I am not in a very trusting mood with WP.org these days. As a further example, in the past week I have witnessed auto-update from 4.9.9 to 5.xx without explicit permission-something that is NOT supposed to happen–twice, on 2 different hosts, neither of which has ever auto-updated major versions. I am investigating further to make sure that this is indeed what is going on.

Well good luck with it. I know the whole point of DG for me is to keep using the Classic Editor, which is lightweight, fast and awesome. Hopefully it helps others on their own sites.

Also I have to say that I LOVE all the WP support team, and they have pretty much always been 100% solid, objective, and trustworthy. Most likely this post-deletion was just a hasty mix-up, probably nothing to worry about.
