I’m locked out of my site!

    I installed the Two-Factor Authentication plugin on WordPress – and the Google Authenticator on my phone. When entering the Google code it does not work! I’ve tried syncing the time (settings on the app) – and it still does not work.

    How can I un-install this feature/app without access to my WordPress Dashboard?

    Please help. We just lauched this site and business and now can not access it.

    Did you check that the codes were in sync *before* logging out? If they’re not, then the settings page shows you what the server thinks the time is. The shared secret and the time are the *only* things that the standard TOTP algorithm uses (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time-based_One-time_Password_algorithm), so it’s almost certainly that.

    But, yes, you can do that – please follow the ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ link towards the top right of this support forum, or on the main wordpress.org plugin page.

    THANK YOU for the wonderful (and speedy) customer support! I was able to resolve the issue by adding this: define(‘TWO_FACTOR_DISABLE’, true); to the wp-config.php file in my File Manager/CPanel. 🙂

    All is good!
