I'm a beginner – how do you stop text from becoming advertsing links?

    Dear Word Press users,

    It must be my computer as the BBC website has no advertsing links in the text but the website I’m trying to build does which is written in Word Press 3.3.2. When I visit a friend’s website written in Joomla! some of the text again becomes links for advertisers. It’s just really irritating if you are reading fiction where appearance and nuance of words MATTERS!

    What is it about my Pc that is allowing this? What causes this? How come my friend visits these two websites (the Joomla one and my Word Press one) and there’s no link adverts? What can I do to stop this? And, how can I only access and build my website with password entry
    only?

    This has nothing to do with WordPress and everything to do with your computer. I strongly suggest that you scan your computer with up-to-date AV and anti-adware software.
