    Hello

This error message appears on some of my images but not all. I recently changed servers, but since then any new images added via ‘Add images/gallery’ interface show the same error message.

Illegal string offset ‘width’ in /home/lynmel/public_html/site/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/admin/manage.php on line 210

    I have tried…
    1. Reinstalling by deleting the plugin via the backend and reinstalling the same way
    2. Creating a new gallery and starting over
    3. Importing the folder

The error message persists. There are over 20 galleries, I’d hate to have to start over.

@artbiz – The migration to another server may not have completely moved NextGEN Gallery as needed. Please try our external Reset Tool plugin here: https://bitbucket.org/photocrati/nextgen-gallery-reset/get/default.zip

To install and activate, go to Plugins > Add New … Upload Plugin
To use, go to Tools > NextGEN Gallery Reset

We do not offer specific support for the Reset Tool plugin as is but it can help in many circumstances, please let us know if it does.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

Thanks Casi, that fixed new uploads. Any idea on how I can get rid of the message next the the thumbs inside the galleries.

    I did clear my cache.

@artbiz – The Reset Tool plugin (or Reset Option) are the only tools we have to correct migration related issues that affect the path/routing for images; if something else has affected the files (in particular the meta data of the images) then you may need to go several steps further and look at re-uploading the images where you are seeing this issue as a corrective measure.

    Thanks!

I’m not sure it is because of migration. While the reset worked for uploading single images, the error message appears when importing a folder of images or uploading a number of images at a time. The pop up for browsing my computer doesn’t work either.

Any other ideas? I think this happened when I switched from Nextcellent to you.

@artbiz – As Nextcellent is based on NextGEN Legacy code (which we no longer provide support for) there could be things in its codebase (or more specifically its database entries) that could be creating this issue. You may need to completely remove and re upload the problematic galleries although if you are experiencing issues with other elements within NextGEN Gallery you may need to completely start over (which may include completely removing all references to NextGEN Gallery from your folders and database).

This would be a last-ditch effort and generally not recommended due to the amount of work and possible complexity involved but as is the following may be of use to start again with a “clean” install of NextGEN Gallery.

This process will generally work but we recommend you have a complete fully verified back-up of your site just in case you run into any problems:

Use FTP to remove NextGEN Gallery related folders.
Then use something like http://wordpress.org/plugins/wpdbspringclean/ to delete all the ngg tables.
Then use something like http://wordpress.org/plugins/database-peek/ to search through the remaining tables for NGG references.
Then use something like http://wordpress.org/plugins/edit-any-table/ to delete all of these database entries.

    Tables typically involved: wp_ngg_*, wp_options, wp_postmeta, and wp_usermeta

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

That sounds like a solution, absolutely. But since there are 24 galleries, and the error code only shows in the backend, we are going to try and just replace the offending images with new ones and live with it.

@artbiz – Thanks for the update on this, let us know if there is more we can assist with.
