  • Hello, outside of mod_rewrite (which I can make up for with isapirewrite) – are there any other possible Apache-only features I may be missing out on by using IIS instead of Apache?

  • None that I am aware of…. Although, I find it better and more stable running Apache than IIS. But that’s just a personal pref.

I hear ya, certainly don’t want to bring up that war here 🙂
I have two IIS machines that have been super-stable for me and run php great. I’d hate to have to go get some linux hosting space just to possibly run WordPress; but wanted to know if I’d be missing out on anything that could convince me to do so. I do plan on adding a linux/apache box for myself sooner or later, but I wasn’t going to do it just for a personal blog.
    Thanks for the response.

Well, I run Apache on Win2K box at home for testing, but upload to a Linux box for the live site. The only problem I’ve had with running it on a Winder box has been that some of my CSS doesn’t load, and I have problems getting cookies set…. sometimes. They don’t get set more often than they do get set, it might be my PHP, I don’t know. But when I take hte same code and load it to my host, it works perfectly. Go figure.

Could be a pathing problem. Theoretically something like css or cookies should have absolutely no differences running on any system. However, on an NT-based based system you need to set your paths differently. Can’t tell you anywhere that would be applicable on WP as I haven’t installed it yet 🙂

That’s what’s weird about it…. it’s not as if the css isn’t loading at all… it is, just not all of it. I get half of my markup and that’s about it. It’s rather annoyong, since parts of it look funny because of no styling. I dunno. I gave up using my local machine to test the CSS, and use it to test the more importaint stuff, such as the coding.

Linux space tends to be cheaper than the other type. Just my 2c.
