Support » Plugin: W3 Total Cache » Ignoring new image file sizes on Featured Image

  • Hello –

Featured images on posts have been uploaded at 1200×545 in the past. We ran some google speed tests, and other site speed tests and were advised to stop uploading images that are too large, which then get scaled-down. So we began resizing all the images to be the exact stated dimension they need to be.

Then we installed W3 total cache.

When we uploaded the new smaller image (even with different file name) and placed it on the post as Featured Image, then right clicked on the image, it still says the image is 1200×545 and scaling down. But its not. Its a completely new image that is much smaller.

Thinking this might be a caching issue, I created a new post and used a 100% unique new file at 800×404. Added it as a featured image. Guess what? That too says 1200×545 (scaled to 800×404). This image has never been that size.

Its almost as if Post > Featured Image is set to 1200×545 somewhere as an actual setting in W3 cache but I can’t find any such setting.

Either way its ignoring the size of the new files being uploaded.
