IFTTT Channel Broken

  • I used to have IFTTT set up to post Favourites on Etsy to my WP blog. It was all working fine up until last week, when I suddenly had a notice that the channel was offline. I go to the IFTTT website and attempt to log in – and I know I’m using the right credentials, b/c they work in the admin panel – and I get this error “Unable to verify WordPress credentials. Please try again.”

I haven’t changed my blog setup at all. I originally was on 3.5.2, and figured maybe I needed to update, so I did. And it still doesn’t work. Does anyone know what’s going on?

  • I’m having the same problem. IFTTT Message: “Unable to verify WordPress credentials. Please try again.” This seemed to break immediately after updating to version 3.6.1

I heard from IFTTT tech support. They said I should link up the WP blog to a new IFTTT account and see if it works there. It did. I’ve left it like that.

Hmm. Still I created a new account but it still doesn’t work for me. Perhaps this is an interaction with the Two Factor Auth plugin? But I’m not sure why it would break now – it’s been working fine for some time.

Do you have special characters in your wordpress password as “%” or something like that? If yes try to change it to something without that stuff. Worked out for me. Actually its an issue which IFTTT should fix.

If two-factor authentication is turned on IFTTT cannot login to WordPress.com or WordPress.org. This would change in the future if IFTTT is able to support two-factor authentication for WordPress.
