iframe embed for Vine videos

  • just started using wordpress and the 2012 theme.

I used an iframe embed for a youtube video. It works just fine.

Then I tried a Vine video embed:

    <iframe class=”vine-embed” src=”https://vine.co/v/bIPYIF1vInn/embed/simple” width=”320″ height=”320″ frameborder=”0″></iframe><script async src=”//platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>

all I get in Preview is the following as text and no video embed:

    <script async src=”//platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>

Does 2012 work with Vine / iframe?

Doesn’t look like it’s supported at this time:

In post editor, make sure you switch to Text mode, not Visual mode.

Text mode is previously known as HTML mode, the name has just changed, but it does the same thing, it doesn’t mess with your code that much compared to the Visual (WYSIWYG) mode.

    Thanks WPyogi.

So the issue is WordPress-wide, and nothing to do with twentytwelve theme as such?

What WP genius will fix this? Vine videos are supper cool – I want to share some on my blog, but asking someone to click out of the site to watch a 6-second video seems weird!

Just found this post that describes and shows that you can embed Vine videos with iframe:

however, no success on my twentytwelve theme WP Site…

Actually, my reply was not exactly correct – as I was referring to the auto-embed supported sites – my bad for not reading your post a bit more carefully. Sorry.

I just tried the one from that link and it seemed to work fine on a test twentytwelve site. That link only has the iframe portion, not the script tags that you have, so maybe try changing that.

Also are you pasting into TEXT and not switching to Visual before saving it?

    Struggling!

this is the process I followed which wipes all data
    :
    1. new post
    2. go to text view
    3. paste vine code eg

    <iframe class=”vine-embed” src=”https://vine.co/v/bIPYIF1vInn/embed/simple” width=”320″ height=”320″ frameborder=”0″></iframe><script async src=”//platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>

    or

    <iframe src=”http://vine.co/v/b1Mbu3EDtI5/card” height=”400″ width=”400″ frameborder=”0″></iframe>

    4. go to Visual view
    5. Yellow box appears
    6. click Save Draft
    7. All code has disappeared.

Am I going about this the right way??!
    thanks!

It’s likely that switching to Visual from TEXT is stripping the code – it’s a known (annoying) quirk – you should only use one editor until you’ve saved/updated.

    See if that works.

WPYogi – that made no difference.

I did manage to get the video to embed by using the tweet embed code rather than the web embed code (as noted in previous post):

Lori’s home made lasagna. Delight! vine.co/v/bIOWjFUiFVO

So I can see the video, but it has the tweet frame on the blog. No big deal, but I am more confused than anything…

I recently uploaded 5 Vine videos to my blog – I have no idea how I did it as I had 35 updates over a two day period and was frustrated beyond belief. Ultimately I checked the post from a new window and voila – there they were.(even though they only showed up as a yellow box on my edit page)

Now I have a new problem They look great on Chrome but are sized wrong for Internet Explorer. God I hate this stuff…

Revisiting this thread. I as site admin am able to successfully add vine embeds to pages on my blogs. However, another user is not able to. I upgraded her to admin permissions on just her blog, but still, nothing. Thoughts on why I can do this, but WordPress strips out the code when she tries?

Sorry this is not the right place to discuss your issue.
