    Hi all.

First, thanks to the entire team of WP developers.

I am not a geek. I have been testing 3.0 for couple of days. I find somethings interesrting in it.

But, I find it very difficult to change things in 3.0 than 2.92.

For example, I have searched every file of twentyten to find as to I can make changes to the comments form. I could not find so I gave up.

Then looked for file to make changes to the horizontal navigation menu (below the header image). I could not find so I gave up.

Then I also wanted to change the author link to his website. The default is links to the author’s posts. I could not find so I gave up.

These are just few things to mention.

Looks like 3.0 is designed for the geeks, not for non-geeks like me.

I am glad I did not delete my 2.92 installation.

Hopefully the next version is more friendly to work with.

This is not a criticism, just an honest feedback.

  • I have had nothing but trouble with 3.0, on one of my blogs, I don’t have spell check, and have trouble uploading pics, on another my dashboard doesn’t show what theme I’m using, how many post, ect.. like it is suppose too, and the worst thing on my third blog, I have no visual editor, yes I’ve unistalled all plugins, I’ve done everything suggested to try and fix it,and none of the other visual editor plugins will work either. I want to go back to 2.9 also, but don’t have a backup for it. I am not a computer geek either, I liked it the way it was.

the 2010 theme is set up quite a bit differently, but its not impossible. You can use custom hooks to make your own comments form. Tutorials have been popping up, and I’m sure there are more to come. Don’t forget, you are not locked into the 2010 theme…. maybe just find a theme that you understand a bit better and customize it

This is generated simply using wp_nav_menu. The only file you need to edit to adjust the menu is style.css. There is a section pertaining specifically to the menu

A lot of people get used to the way things used to work. It happens every time there is a major upgrade to WP. But progress is progress. If we want to continue customizing WP, we gotta keep up.
