    …Plugin which has 700,000+ installs and higher reviews. It would be possible that WordPress would have had a community splitting fork.

    The team should take a hard look at the person or person who demanded this go through and then consider if they have the user base in mind when making decisions.

    Sometimes the developers vision is wrong. It is not their product anymore.
