If I do not use the @ the feed is always empty.

    Note: Please do not use ‘@’ inside this field. The default medium handle is galaxy-ux-studio

    If I do not use the @ in the feed it is always empty.

    Hello @microkloon ,

    The difference in URL behavior is due to how Medium distinguishes between User Profiles and Publications. Since your handle is a User Profile, you need to include the ‘@’ symbol in the URL for it to work correctly.
