If you’re WordPress theme isn’t displaying the way it should in Internet Explorer 8 there may be a simple fix which is to put this line of code:
<meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=EmulateIE7? />
Just copy it and drop it into the header.php above the closing head tag.

I have the exact same problem with the inove theme, except the sidebar is missing on the main page only and the bottom posts and footer are missing.
That hack didnt do anything.
Could you be a bit more informative about the likely cause of the issue?
For example, our browser is very standards compliant but you may have conditional ie css in place? Or.. this is a known issue etc?
This is a major way for a page to break, not displaying the entire sidebar and footer?!!

I am sorry but the fix from Nate was not a fix at all merely a work around that does not address the problem. I use the default theme (which was the OP’s theme) and it works perfectly in IE8 as it should.
I got the same exact problem with the IE 8. I have constructed a template of my own and it works fine on IE 7 and on IE 8 it only show the last part of the sidebar and the footer.
I have applied the fix suggested above and it works, but the user has to hit a button on the url bar of IE 8. If you hit the button of compabitility, it works properly.
It would be awesome if there was a direct fix for this.
Any suggestions?
