IE7 Width and Margin Problem

    Hello there, I have a problem when I’m designing my new wordpress theme. The layout appears perfectly fine in Mozilla Firefox but it looks like a complete mess is IE7. I’m stuck at the css styling of the header section (this is a mockup):

    <html>
    <head><title>Test Blog</title></head>
    <body>
    <div class="header">
      <div class="header_container">
      </div><!-- END header_container -->
    </div><!-- END header -->
    </body>
    </html>

    And here is the css code:

    .header {
    background:#ffffff;
    width: 100%;
    float:left;}

    .header .header_container {
    background:#ffffff url(images/headerbg.jpg) no-repeat top center;
    width: 800px;
    height: 300px;
    margin: 0 auto;
    padding:0;}

    And in Mozilla Firefox, the background image appears to be centered in the browser. But in Internet Explorer, the entire .header_container div is pushed to the left.

    Any idea where the problem is? Thank you in advance for your help.
