Support » Plugins » IE still infected with "error on page" disease – "object expected"

  • Hi all, aren’t you from time to time doing a check-up how all those different browsers deal with your wordpress blog?

Meanwhile Browser makers should have heard that many websites run with plugins that call for an object from somewhere else, e.g. social network plugins etc etc.

As soon your internet connection needs a little longer to import that object, Internet Explorer raises an alarm: “error on page”, the object that your wordpress blog is asking for doesn’t exist.

And thats because it took some 4 sec longer. Question is, is someone programing such a browser configuration because he doesn’t know better, or is this acting in bad faith? Any idea?

Makes you sort of wonder why Internet Explorer still includes a “compatibility mode” feature in their browser, doesn’t it? That may not be the case with this particular error, but that sort of sums up the sentiment. You can encounter that error message along with a vast array of others daily while using IE… Doesn’t have to be a WordPress site.

I’m not sure one could classify the error as a WordPress issue, though.

Thanks ClaytonJames, agree. Just contemplated from view of mass of surfers who are not aware of anything but just get the “error on page” message when visiting a wordpress blog via IE. I respect your serenity, for me Microsoft’s attitude is an annoyance, unacceptable.
