Support » Theme: Tiny Framework » IE 8 Problems

  • Hey there,

I use the lastest release of tinyframework and one of my clients has problems using the website with internet explorer 8: it falls down in compatibility mode and mashes up the design. I send you the error message at the end of this mail. I am not a JavaScript expert but I found this post about “addEventListener” and its problems with ie8:

Can someone offer a fix for that script?

Hi, I tested it with F12 tool and it still looks pretty good. You don’t need to use compatibility mode:

We also have to understand that IE8 support is just to make site readable and look decent.

IE8 is not supported by Microsoft and is very old browser, so we cannot reproduce 100% how theme looks on modern browser.

I see that error, but in my test it doesn’t cause any visible problems.

    Hey Tomas,
I agree with you: It is very old, but I have to assume that every 100th visitor still uses that browser. It’s true when you use F12 it still looks ok, but on the real IE8 it is really messed up – concerning that error with the EventLissener: It would be nice if the theme would not produce js-errors on IE8 – could someone fix this?

Unfortunately I do not have time resources for this task. And look at the stats:

We see almost 0.5% drop/month. With this progress IE8 will be almost extinct in the Spring of 2017.
