While using WordPress 2.5.1, I used the WP_Identicon plugin written by Scott Sherrill-Mix for Identicon support. It produced Identicons using the IP address of the commentor: an arrangement I found quite useful, as it helped to distinguish anonymous commentors from one another.

The Identicon support built into WordPress 2.6 seems to use email addresses to generate Identicons, instead. This is much worse for me, as a number of people leave their name as ‘Anonymous’ and put something random in the email box, like ‘notgoingtotell@nope.com.’ I would prefer if all the comments from one IP address got the same Identicon.

Is there any way to change this behaviour?

Thanks a lot for your help,
