  • Linux.

    I’ve done it with:
    Apache / Linux
    Apache / Windows
    IIS / Windows

(all with PHP / MySQL of course)

All can be coerced to be functional, but Apache/Linux is (imho) by far the low-stress way to go.

The classic LAMP configuration is hard to beat. If you’re doing stuff like a web portal, web services, transaction processing, then I’d look at ASP.NET. For a WP blog, LAMP is a better fit and probably cheaper to host.

Yeah I am strictly talking hosting WP. Now that LAMP is the way to go, any suggestions on hosting companies that offer that with multiple domains and personalized nameservers?

I’m not quite ready for a VPS or Dedicated, maybe a nice reseller account.

Just do a search here, as there’s been too many discussions already. Or go over to webhostingtalk, as the forums there have TONS of details on webhosts.
