Icons not shown on Website, but on preview
-
Dear all,
I have just set up my Icons to link my 2 ebay Shops on the website. The preview in the editor looks great but on the webiste I can only see the account name. The place where the icons should be is invisible, but clickable.
Chaning the icons, colour, appearance,… does not help. I have also cleared all caches and run the Jetpack critical CCS but still the same problem.
Do you have any idea?
Kindest regards
Emil

Hi, @egeisler
Make sure Font Awesome 5 is enabled in the plugin settings. https://jmp.sh/sPpeFM8o
Dear Ina,
Thank you for your quick response. Font Awesome 5 (as well as all others) are enabled, but it is still not working. I have also tried to deactivate and reactivate Font Awesome 5.
When using icons from the other icon groups, Socicons, Dashicons, Genericons and Academicons work perfectly fine but all “Font Awesome” icons won’t load at all or show strange pixels: https://jmp.sh/kJHg3IEd
@egeisler it seems that you use other plugins that use Font Awesome 5 and most probably there is a conflict between them and Social Icons Widget & Block. There is an issue with loading this file on the page that includes the icons.
Try these troubleshooting recommendations:
https://www.wpzoom.com/docs/troubleshooting-plugin-conflicts/Dear Ina,
I followed the troubleshooting flowchart. Unfortnately the issue still appears even though all other plug ins are deactivated. The sheme says I should then switch to the default theme but I am already using the Twenty Twenty-Four theme from WordPress which means there must be some sort of bug right?
@egeisler, I checked your website and now it seems like the icons are displaying well.
https://prnt.sc/SoPL-Q3lucdpDear Ina,
as mentioned before I tried to set up the ebay logo for my ebay shops. The ebay icon is belongs to the Font awesome 5 group.
Since I did not get a solution for my problem yet, I have changed to the shopping cart symbols in the meantime so my customers won’t see a blanc space on the website. The shopping carts icon belongs to the Dashicons group and should only be a workaround until we find a way to set up the ebay icons 🙂
@egeisler I appreciate the explanation. The only thing we can investigate from the front end of your website is that this file is not loaded. You can try to add it manually in the directory via FTP.
You can also:
— check if this is not a limitation of your optimization plugin if you use one;
— check if the file is not blocked by your security plugin if you use one;
— contact your hosting provider to check if the file is not blocked due to some server restrictions.
