I received a report from a user this weekend that one of our multi day events was not displaying on google or ios calendar. after some debugging i found it was due to the event being added when we launched in december. looking i found in mc_get_new_events, that it will only pull events added to the calendar in the last 2 days, and if that is empty the last 30 events added.

Can I ask why this is the criteria? i can see if your calendar was super busy, but ours we have to add events out at least 30 days and we have some scheduled out to 2025 already so people can plan to submit applications for events.

if someone subscribes to our calendar feed more than a couple of days after we add an event, it will not show up in the ical feed (unless there is a day that returns nothing) Wouldn’t it make more sense for the feed to show all future events, so instead of filtering on date added, filter on the event date and always show the future events so no matter when someone subscribes they will see future events (well probably easier to do 2-7 days in the past and then all future (or some variable range into the future)

That’s set because of the refresh cycle for ical subscription clients; it’s to coordinate with the frequency with which tools re-check for new events.

Your suggestion of having a feed that just always shows future events might be feasible; I’ll have to think about it a bit. If you want to add that as a feature request, please do!
