Support » Plugin: The Events Calendar » Ical export creates “ics.html”-files

    Hello,

since some time, the “+ ICAL EXPORT” button exports events with a “.ics.html”-extension, which cannot be read by Ical. If I remove the .html extension manually however, the file works perfectly.

Is there any way I can remove the .html extension from the export? I currently run 4.4.1 of Events Calendar.

    Sincerely,

    Magnus

  • Hey Magnus,

Thanks for using The Events Calendar, I’m happy to help. In order to help, I need a couple things from you:

-Please test for conflicts by following this documentation & let me know what you find
-Can you send me a link so I can see this firsthand?

    Thanks!
    Shelby 🙂

    Hello Shelby,

Thank you for your reply. I’m reading through the documentation.
You can find an example of the problem here: http://www.sjovarnskarenstockholm.se/event/karstamma-2017/

    Sincerely,

    Magnus

    I have the same problem.

    Hi guys,

I’m not able to replicate this issue on either of your sites! Did the latest update remedy it perhaps? Let me know if you’re still experiencing this.

    Cheers,
    Shelby 🙂

I fond the problem and solution.

In my setup the plugin ‘WP Super Cache’ causes the problem.
This plugin generates static html files from dynamic WordPress blog. So it makes also html files from the ics files.

    The solution:
Go to the ‘Advanced’ tab at WP Super Cache Settings.
By ‘Miscellaneous’ you must turn on:
Don’t cache pages with GET parameters. (?x=y at the end of a url)

Now ‘WP Super Cache’ doesn’t make a html file from an ics file (or any file WordPress must GET).

Maybe you don’t use the plugin ‘WP Super Cache’ but this happens, i think, also whit other kind of Cache plugins.

    Thanks,
    Theo
