I’m relatively new to all this wordpress stuff. I want to be able to add different information on my sidebar for each page. i.e. page 1 shows a list of links to towns, page 2 shows a list of links to countries, get the gist?
After hunting through the themes section I came across Weaver II which gives me an option to have different widgets in a sidebar for each page, which is exactly what I’m after, the big drawback is that I have to write the widgets myself!!
I just want a simple text widget which will allow me to put different information on each sidebar.
Can anyone help me please?
the way you do it in weaver is by creating Per Page Widget Areas. That process only requires you to put the names of the Per Page Widget Areas you want to create in the box at the bottom of main Options > Widget areas.
As soon as you do that, your new widget areas appear in Appearance > Widgets. There you can put text widgets or other content in them.
Then you can use them in your pages using the Selective display of widget area options.
That being said the plugin mentioned above probably offers more flexibility 🙂
