• I’m pretty new to all this. I used Dreamhost one click install for wordpress and it works beautifully. I wanted to add the streampad plugin but I don’t have the administration powers to do that because of my method of install?

Can anyone lend a brother a hand?

  • You should have received an email to the id you provided during install – the email will have your admin user name and password.

Failing that simply go to your install-location.tld/wp-login.php and select lost password and enter admin for user name or the email id and you’ll get a link to reset your password.

I need to upload plug ins to my wp-admin file, but because I used the one click install i have no idea where that folder would be. I’m pretty ipad oriented as well and did everything with it. I’m using my laptop right now. Do i need to download wp and override the one click somehow? Am I blithering like a moron here? Ha Ha …

To upload plugins you will need to use an ftp client like filezilla or similar. Navigate to the public_html or www of your domain name and look for a folde named wp-content.

Inside this folder is where you will find the plugins and themes folders where you can upload your plugins and/or themes.

Al alternative is to log into your hostings cPanel and navigate to file manager – again look for the folder as above and here you should be able to upload the required plugins.

    Hope that helps.

You can’t upload to the one-click installs on dreamhost. They don’t let you have access to that. If you want a configurable wordpress on dreamhost you’ll have to install it yourself.

Yeah. Thats what I thought. Next question then …

Do I need to uninstall what I’ve got or can I essentially do an upgrade with the manual install that I do.

    Thanks for the assistance boys!

If you don’t have access to your WordPress folders via FTP or cpanel, login to your WordPress dashboard i.e. via http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-login.php (replace ‘yourdomain.com’ with your actual domain), and upload your plugin there (Plugins > Add New > Upload).

Thanks for all the feedback. I got it sorted out! I know I’ll be back with more questions.

    Peace all!
