I upgraded to WP 4.1 now have a fatal error

    Hello.

    Can anyone please help me?

    I upgraded my website to 4.1 and then got a white screen only when I went to the admin pages (the website is still live).

    I then phoned my host provider and they looked at a few things and now I get a fatal error. They suggested I ask if anyone can help as it is something to do with WP.

    The message is:
    Fatal error: Access level to _WP_List_Table_Compat::get_column_info() must be public (as in class WP_List_Table) in /websites/123reg/LinuxPackage22/an/it/av/anitavandenbroek.co.uk/public_html/wp-admin/includes/list-table.php on line 113

    I really hope someone can help!!

    Take backup and reinstall wordpress, as it is wordpress core file which is modified, make sure you take site as well as database backup.

    you could manually try downloading the wordpress 4.1 package and just replace the faulty file with a new one.

    Does the error mean that 4.1 got corrupted during the download?

    Are there instructions to back up and reinstall?

    Yes that might be the problem or your tech guys might have messed it up!

    /wp-admin/includes/list-table.php

    wp-admin has core files so it has to do with wordpress 4.1

    YOu could manually do it
    codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups

    Use plugins like backupbuddy or wordpressbackup

    or seek professional assistance
