I updated old version of WP and traffic dropped dramatically

    Hi! Last week i updated my 2012 WP site (With a 2012 version of WP, don’t remember the number) and three days later the traffic to my site dropped dramatically.

    I read a lot of Google penalizations and all that stuff, but still don’t make sense to me.

    You know if the update could affect the traffic of my site?

    Hi there!

    Check your referrals and compare them. Somethings you can be hit by spammers and other things. Also, check if your SEO tags were affected. Check the URLs, and the meta descriptions of posts.

    I don’t thing Google will do some sort of penalization. You’ll see it in the console. I heard about Google giving more positive priority to sites served over SSL, but I don’t know whether or not that’s true.

    The last month i received a lot of SPAM traffic like:
    – lifehacĸer.com
    – motherboard.vice.com
    – abc.xyz

    And crap like that but what can i do with that? I know how to filter them in Analytics, but i can’t prevent that visits. :S

    My site traffic is still horrible. I don’t know, i updated WordPress on 26th november and a drop was on 3rd december. I’m still thinking that the update is the problem.
