Support » Plugin: Gutenberg » I tried to like it, but..

  • .. I just can’t.

when I first heard the decision that gutenberg should be “hard” implemented in WP I thought and said “Let it be finished first” but wasn’t heard, as so many others out there. Now v9.5 is there and it’s still no fun working with, glitches all over the place and it’s just not intuitive and if you ask me, the UI is also ugly. I used it not once until now for any live project and I don’t plan to. There are many better things you can do.
If you now say, then why don’t you open issues and help making it better? I would if I could see any benefit in it, but I don’t. Let it be a plugin for those nerds that want to have it and we’re fine. Subtract 1 star please.

  • Yes, It is still extremely far from finished. I can not believe this is still the default editor?!

I think there needs to be some usability research. Look at the way why users like the old editorscreen so much and translate that to Gutenberg.

This has to do with coloring important parts.
Creating links so people can fast click to Viewing this page in a new window. (and seeing the permalink for this page)

Showing more options (maybe only when people have big screens?) instead of defaultly hiding everything underneath an extra click/onhover to uncover those extra options.

I need to know where to move my mouse before I’m moving it. So I need to see the options. I have a 4k screen, that is almost 80% white when editing in Gutenberg.
I want to fill it with possibilities, utilities, quicker access; not blank space. 🙂
