I Think There is A Better Plugin Elsewhere

From what I gather, WordPress Core will integrate components of Picturefill into the Core with a future release. It has begun here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/ricg-responsive-images/changelog/. In my opinion, seamless integration with the WordPress Media Library and Uploader will be extremely important for it to work right.
