• I was looking on my site and my database used for exclusively reviews : http://www.deadpit.com/blog/

Reads: Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/wesvance/public_html/deadpit-com/blog/index.php:2) in /home/wesvance/public_html/deadpit-com/blog/wp-includes/functions.php on line 1348

It doesn’t look like you’ve installed WP yet. Try running install.php.

I go in my FTP folder and see everything like it was but its not on the site.. I Unfortunately didn’t backup the database because I just kept putting it off…is there any way to export them through FTP ? because I had almost 400 reviews.

Thanks ahead of time and if anyone can help please let me know!

    Wes

  • 1st of all – immediately delete or rename /wp-admin/install.php or someone will make sure you have problems.

2nd – look in your blog/index.php:2 for a blank space before
    <?php
    or after
    ?>.
    Then see what happens

I did what you said…I assume you want me to open the file in Notepad and edit it which is what I did. I still get the same message.

I have an update on the situation. I found out last night that our servers were being moved…here’s the email I received:

Note, that your database names and database users names has changed!
    Changes for database wordpress
    New database name is wesvance_wordpress
    Changes for user deadpit
    New user name is wesvance_deadpit
    New password is ********

Now if you go to my blog: http://www.deadpit.com/blog/ It’s like a brand new version of WordPress without any of my entries. Is there something I can do to salvage all of my work?

    Thanks,

    Wes.

    wow- you gotta’ love that.

Can you view the database through cpanel/phpmyadmin and see if the tables and info are still there?
Also, a reputable host will have made backups before changing servers – ask them for it or ask them to restore it for you. Put pressure on them!

I didn’t see any but the weird thing is the image files are all there that I uploaded. What I did just now is changed the database names on wp-config.php to what they said they were now…maybe that will restore it? I’m sort of dumb when it comes to PHP and I know I should have made more recent backups but I’ve got a million other things to worry about !

Samboll – thanks for all your help!
