@hassan if i give you a link for a beta version of Real-Time feature, can you test it to help me a little with RTL on Real-Time screen? If you want to be a beta tester contact me by mail, if you don’t have it use the contact form from the footer of my website.
I didn’t see a poll, but I left a message. I’d LOVE to see such a feature… I came here to request it and then saw this thread. 🙂 As a web developer, I don’t have access to my client’s Google Analytics, other than what I can see in the dashboard. My main need is to be able to see how many active users, so I can decide when to take the site down for maintenance. Thanks!
That message it’s just temporary, until the Real-Time Reporting API will become public or public beta. Here is a full explanation why is currently working only with my API Project: Google Analytics Dashboard for WP – RealTime Analytics
Then I don’t understand why you rolled out this feature when pretty much most of the users won’t be able to use it :/ This will just add confusion, IMO. You could just test in beta (not public) version and only release it publicly when Google allows it.
The majority of users are those using my API Project, you can switch to it too, all you have to do is to uncheck the “use your own API Project credentials” option and clear the old authorization and re-authorize.
The reason I created my own API project was because I’m using this on client sites and I just wanted to have a sense of “control”. I’m still unsure what’s the difference between using my own project vs yours. Could you shed some light on this? I don’t have much experience with Google APIs, therefore I don’t have much knowledge on this.
There is actually no difference, the only thing is that the usage stats and quota limit are taken by my project. There is no privacy concern because the plugin stores your data in your database, including individual tokens.
At this point, I recommend using own API Projects only to developers or for education purposes.
