I Must Report JOY!

  • Am so excited, this map of mine is shaping up so nicely, and I can’t wait to flesh it all out! Happy, happy, joy, joy!

I can’t wait to go all the way Pro Plus Plus Plus whatever comes down the line! It will be exciting!

You can see the maps’ current iteration here … http://the-rv-life.com/rv-resources/rv-maps-visuals/rv-dealer-locator-map-usa-canada/

Check out the slick little icons I found for this map … for my application/use/map, they are perfect! Thanks to Josh here … http://www.906graphics.com/2011/04/50-free-u-s-state-vector-icons/

The plugin is doing what I wanted it to do, it’s relatively easy to follow, yes there is tiddle of a learning curve, but that’s the way it goes with everything in ‘computerland’ … within hours I was humming along and understood what went where, … and if you do have an issue/question, no worries, support is awesome, consider yourself fortunate to have stumbled upon this plugin.

Now, setting up the data for a map like this is easy. It’s very straight-forward. You are using a spreadsheet, with specific column headers, and you just fill in the data.

If you have a lot of data, yes, it can be tedious, true, but once it’s done, you have a masterpiece on your hands!

If you’re good with with your basic simple-dimple csv, tsv, file formats, MS Word and its ‘Find and Replace’ function, and some MS Excel to manipulate and control the data, and then sprinkle in a little ‘geocoding’ for good measure, but that’s not that difficult at all, and with the geocoding website that Nick / WP GoogleMaps links over to, it’s a copy and paste event, you can do this!

All of that is time-consuming, but the plugin makes it sooooooo manageable and understandable, and just look at the results on this map!!! … and it’s only going to get better because there is an add-on that will de-clog the view and looks of this map, I think it’s the ‘Gold Add On’ I am referring to, and I cannot wait to add that feature on to this map.

I firmly believe that this map, and other maps I have mentally planned will be a major attraction for this website and a very useful tool, and a great experience for the visitor … isn’t that what data sharing and website building are about, useful, pertinent, valuable information?

Thank you Nick for putting out a great plugin with superb support!

You’ve got a raving fan here!
