    Hello, I’m back again.

Okay, I am not sure why this has happened again. Let’s say you’re navigating through the directory, but you can’t even use paginate with this, for some reason it will redirect it to the 404 page. I would show you but it’s on a local server. This is the second time it has happened now, and I’m not sure why. I have re-installed the plugin twice, also when you try to click on the cards it will direct you to the 404 page.

I am not sure if anyone has had this issue, but it’s causing me massive problems. Could someone enlighten me please?

Do you have the shortcode on the same page set as the Front Page? If you do, move the shortcode to a different page. Does that fix the problem?

Sorry to say I don’t, you won’t be able to access this server but the link would be 192.168.250.93/colleges.co.uk/directory but I tried moving it to a different page and still didn’t fix the problem.

For some reason, on local host setups permalink resolution can be a pain.

What permalink structure do you have set? Try Post Name. Does that fix it? Try the Default. Does that fix it?

On the Permalinks admin page under the WP Settings, try simply clicking the Save Changes button. Then go to the Connections : Settings admin page, click the Advanced tab and then click the Save Changes button. Does that fix the issue?

If neither of the above work…

Is this page set as the directory home page?
    192.168.250.93/colleges.co.uk/directory/

When you hover over a name link or a pagination link, what are those URL/s? They should be:

    192.168.250.93/colleges.co.uk/directory/name/entry-slug
    192.168.250.93/colleges.co.uk/directory/pg/2

It is currently showing “192.168.250.93/colleges.co.uk/directory/pg/2” but then you go to click on it and it won’t actually produce the page, it just shows a 404.

So I assume none of the things I suggested in my previous reply fixed it, is that correct? Sorry, but your reply isn’t clear if you did or not.

    What about answering these questions…

Is this page set as the directory home page?
    192.168.250.93/colleges.co.uk/directory/

Do you have the shortcode on the same page set as the Front Page? Put another way, what pages do you have set up as front Page and the posts page?

“Is this page set as the directory home page?” Yes it is.

“Do you have the shortcode on the same page set as the Front Page?” No, I don’t.

Ok, thanks… I am running out of guesses though 🙁

By chance, do you happen to have a folder on the server named directory in the web root?

    (@coderjames)

Sorry to say we don’t, it’s really weird why this is happening. I have re-installed the plugin. I have deleted it all from the database, and then re-installed into and all of the tables went it. Here is a picture of the advanced settings http://i.imgur.com/dr231RL.png

Does that screenshot show the entirety of the webroot?

I ask this question because folders for subdomains that have the same name as a page slug in WordPress, the server takes priority and you’ll end up in that subdomain rather than the domain you think you are in. Honestly grasping at straws but it is something I’ve run into with hosts that add subdomains as subfolders in the server webroot.

Have you tried temporarily switching back to the default theme and deactivating all other plugins? Maybe something else is flushed the WP rewrite rules after Connections add it own.

We have changed the template and everything, we have also checked the web root. http://puu.sh/hVjPE/6a23b7af64.png
We have also checked the theme, it still won’t out put it. We have also deactivated the different plugins. There are no sql erros and nothing.

    Plugin Author Steven

    (@shazahm1hotmailcom)

    @ CoderJames

There should not be any sql errors, Connections “simply” hooks into the core rewrite rules like many other plugins do. Those rewrites is what WP uses to determine what page to display. When none of the rules match, WP shows the 404.

Install the Rewrite Rules Inspector plugin.

Are the Connections rules shown? There should be a lot of them. To find them, just do a page search for cn- on its admin page. You can also use this plugin to test URL to see which rule it matches. So you could paste in a pagination URL or name URL and it should match one of the rules.

If the Connections rules do not exist. That is the issue and something is flushing them. I suspect the rule do exist and something else is the cause.

Hello, we have finally figured out what the problem was. Maybe you should suggest on your next update that this plugin will re-write the rules for the link and it won’t work. http://prntscr.com/77rhl9 Thank you for all of the support

Ahhh, yes, that definitely would do it. I already have another plugin that does something similar documented:

    http://connections-pro.com/faqs/html-on-pages/

I’ll add this one to the plugin conflict list.
