I Love Theme, But……

I’ve used numerous free themes, and a fair amount of paid themes in the time I’ve been building WordPress sites. I love the HoneyPress dark theme. The free version has great functionality in the customizer. It really is a beautiful theme.

But after working through the customizer on a personal project, I started working on pages. This is when I discovered you can’t change the default header image. HoneyPress recommends the Unique Header plugin, which allegedly allows you to change the image. There are no sizing guidelines. I was only able to change the image on two pages. The rest simply didn’t work.

Here’s the part where I’m mad. I can buy the premium version to get this functionality. This is basic WordPress functionality that has been essentially blocked by this theme unless you purchase the premium key. This theme is near totally useless in the free version. I like the additional features offered in the premium, and would consider recommending them to clients.

I haven’t decided yet whether or not if I’m buying the premium. I love the theme, it’s great, but think this is piracy. Just thought people considering this theme should know. Thanks for reading.
